On October 25, The Imperial Russian Ballet Company returns to Australia with a performance of Sleeping Beauty.

Tchaikovsky’s classic masterpiece is in three acts. Act one is about the curse that a bad fairy, Carabosse, casts on Princess Aurora on the day of her christening. At the end of act one, Princess Aurora pricks her finger on a knitting needle and falls into a deep sleep. Act two continues with Prince Deserea and the dream which leads him to the castle. He kisses the sleeping princess, and the spell is broken. Act three concludes with the rejoicing of the whole kingdom.

The versatility of The Imperial Russian Ballet Company is demonstrated by the fact they are able to tour the world presenting both full length traditional ballets and divertissements, as well as finding time to perform seasons at the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow.
